Pocket Parks

8th & Gordon

At the corner of 8th and Gordon St. sits one of our neighborhood’s pocket parks, dedicated to Hazel Stauffer, one of the founders of Old Allentown. With its hand-laid brick, custom iron fencing, and seasonal plantings, this small green space offers a place to rest, gather, and reflect. Each winter, the holiday tree here becomes a centerpiece for the community.

Parks like this are essential in a residential district, providing beauty, shade, and space for neighbors to connect. Earlier this year, the park’s fence was damaged in a car accident, and the community is now raising funds for a refresh. Improvements for the park include replacing the damaged portion of the fence, a new table, new boxwood hedges, relayed brick sidewalks, and fresh new grasses and other plantings.
